Manager Gall expecting a"tough encounter" ahead of their League Cup Semi-Final against Albion Rovers

This weekend Keiron Galls’ side host Albion Rovers at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre in the Semi-Final of the Welsh Veterans Football League Cup.

After winning the League Cup 2 years in a row, Pendarren BGC will be clear favourites for the competition once again. The last time the two sides met was back in November when Penydarren battled out a hard-fought 3-2 victory. Unfortunately, Albion Rovers played an ineligible player which saw The Bont Playing Fields side take an automatic 3 points and a 3-0 victory.

Keiron Galls’ side come into this game on the back of a convincing 7-0 victory over title challengers Swansea University. An Anthony Smith hat-trick, along with a Steve White brace and one-a-piece for Richie Collins and Ian Morris secured the points for Penydarren as they almost move into an unassailable position at the top of the Welsh Veterans Football League.

The visitors come into the game with great confidence after last weeks 3-1 victory over St Albans. A brace from Phil Ricci and one a piece for James Collins and Troy Reilly sealed an important win in the League for the Newport based side.

Speaking on the Semi-Final, Manager Keiron Gall said "This weekend will be a tough encounter as we are up against a resilient Albion Rovers side. We are extremely aware of how hard this game will be as we scraped a 3-2 victory over Albion last time out, but we are defending the competition and we all want to win this cup for our new formed club Penydarren. This tie will be a fantastic occasion as it’s a cup competition and anything can happen".

Gall finished by saying "I hope we can get as much support as possible to get us over the line as our 12th man and reach the Welsh Veterans Football League Cup Final".
