MATCH PREVIEW: STM SPORTS v PENYDARREN BGC

A trip to the capital awaits for Kerry Mullins’ side as they face STM Sports in the Quarter Final of the Welsh Football League Cup at Cardiff University Sports Fields on Saturday afternoon.

Penydarren BGC enter the game on the back of a huge 3-1Welsh League win over promotion rivals Trethomas Bluebirds last Friday. His side will be eager to maintain their good form going into Saturday’s Quarter Final.

In contrast, Dale Gardiners’ side have been in tremendous form in Welsh League Division 2 with a most recent 5-2 victory over Monmouth Town FC last Saturday.

The last time these two sides met was back in the November of last year when Penydarren BGC ran out 2-1 winners in the 2nd Round of the JD Welsh Cup. Kerry Mullins’ side also defeated the Cardiff based side in the 2nd Round of FAW Trophy just a month before, this time a 3-2 victory at The Bont Playing Fields. Both sides have had some fantastic ties over the years and it’s sure to be another entertaining game this weekend.

Price in action against Cambrian & Clydach BGC

Earlier this week we caught up with Penydarren BGC Goalkeeper Stephen 'Becksy' Price to preview this weeks game. He said "Saturday will be a very tough test for us they are in a similar league position as us and I know they have been very strong at home this season. We will approach the game the same way that we have all season, Mullins will have done his homework but we will be more focused on what we have to do”
