Penydarren BGC Veterans 8-0 Cwmbran Celtic Veterans- Pen cruise into Quarter Finals of League Cup

Penydarren hosted Cwmbran Celtic in the Preliminary Round of the Welsh Veterans Football League cup last weekend looking to take their fantastic league form into the Welsh Veterans Football League Cup.

Penydarren Veterans ran out 1-0 winners the last time these two sides met at Celtic Park earlier last month in the Wales Veterans Football League.

The Match started with the home side on the front foot looking to find an early break through after their early dominance in the first period.

In the 22nd minute the deadlock was finally broken through Penydarren winger Nicky Francis who capitalised on a Cwmbran mistake to finish neatly past the visitor’s goalkeeper into the bottom corner. Penydarren on absolute fire at this point.

Penydarren found their second of the game soon after through midfielder Anthony Smith who bent his shot into the far top corner from outside the box. No chance for the visiting goalkeeper.

Just a minute later Pen got their 3rd of the game through striker Paul Ryan who turned his man inside the box to fire his effort into the bottom corner and to send Kerion Galls men into the break with a very comfortable lead.

Just 21 minutes after the restart substitute Steve White composedly slotted home Penydarren’s 4th of the game from close range after the visitors failed to clear their lines once again.

Nicky Francis was on the scoresheet once again as he got on the end of a brilliant cross from Shane Davies to guide his header into the far top corner.

Just two minutes later Francis finally got his hat trick and what a goal it was as he beat three men on the end of the box to hit unbelievable strike which flew past the Cwmbran Celtic goalkeeper into the top corner.

Pen striker Paul Ryan then rounded of an incredible afternoon for the veterans and an eventful afternoon at The Bont Playing Fields as he calmly slotted home his second of the game.
