Port Talbot Town’s Victoria Road is to host the Welsh Football League Cup Final between Penydarren BGC and Ynysygerwn.
The final is to take place on Friday the 17th May with a scheduled Kick Off of 19:15. Extra Time and Penalties would be needed should the two sides finish the 90 minutes level.
The final will be contested by two teams from the fourth tier of Welsh football with Penydarren looking to eye up the Welsh League and Cup double.
Penydarren BGC will take on fellow Welsh League Division 3 side Ynysygerwn FC for the third time this season after securing both 2-1 and 2-0 victories over the LLandarcy based side both home and away.
Both sides are in the final for the first time in their history and will play at the ground of a former Welsh Premier League side.
Penydarren BGC reached the final having knocked out Cup holders and promotion rivals Trefelin BGC after a brace from Christopher Colvin-Owens and a Joshua Brogden penalty sealed an incredible win for Kerry Mullins' men despite being reduced to ten men early in the first half.
Ynysygerwn knocked out Penybont, who had been crowned Division One champions who now prepare for their first ever season in the JD Welsh Premier League. Nicholas Maggs’ men beat them on penalties with Tom Phillips scoring the decisive penalty.
Penydarren Boys & Girls Club will have to travel 24.4 miles more than Ynysygerwn for the final. Ynysygerwn’s home ground of Llandarcy is 6.9 miles away from Port Talbot’s Victoria Road.
