Penydarren BGC Veterans host Cwmbran Celtic this Sunday at The Bont in the Preliminary Round of the Welsh Veterans Football League Cup. Manager Keiron Gall is looking forward to the game, and is fully aware that his players will need another strong performance if they’re to retain the silverware for the third consecutive time this season.
Penydarren Veterans are looking to retain the Welsh Veterans Football League Cup after last seasons 3-2 victory over Swansea University at Ystrad Mynach 3G.
Penydarren Veterans have made a great start to the league season so far winning five out of their first five league games and scoring a total of 23 goals resulting in them sitting top of the league in Welsh Veterans Football League.
Gall is under no illusions that Sunday’s game will be a tough encounter: “We have a really tough game ahead of us on Sunday. We are up against a very resilient and well organised team but we will approach the game like every other. We will keep our shape and stay disciplined but most importantly we’ve got to enjoy the game”
Penydarren BGC Veterans ran out narrow 1-0 winners over Cwmbran Celtic earlier last month after a Neil Davies goal guaranteed Penydarren BGC took all the points back to Merthyr Tydfil but manager Kieron Gall is still expecting a very tough test from the Celtic Park side. "I'm expecting a very tough game as they’re a team that keep their shape very well and are very hard to break down”
Gall has made a clear ambition that he wants his side to retain the league cup for the third consecutive time. “We are out to retain the League Cup and we work hard each year to achieve this and we will do the same this year. We want to keep this cup run going for the club and the players”.
